Tiruchirappalli: In a significant step toward strengthening the integration of engineering and healthcare, the National Institute of Technology Tiruchirappalli has entered into a strategic partnership with Kauvery Hospital to introduce a Postgraduate Diploma in Healthcare Technology.

The collaboration aims to equip students with industry-relevant skills by combining academic learning with practical exposure in hospital environments. The programme is expected to commence from July 2026 and will be administered by the institute’s Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering.

Under this initiative, students will undergo a structured curriculum that includes micro-credit courses, expert-led sessions, and hands-on training. A key highlight of the programme is the opportunity for participants to gain real-world experience through internships and live projects at Kauvery Hospital, enabling them to understand the practical challenges of modern healthcare systems.

Officials from both institutions stated that the partnership is designed to bridge the gap between technology and medical services, fostering innovation in healthcare delivery. The move is also aligned with the broader vision of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which encourages interdisciplinary learning and industry collaboration.

The programme is expected to open new career pathways for students in the rapidly evolving field of healthcare technology, addressing the growing demand for skilled professionals who can operate at the intersection of engineering and medical sciences.

This initiative marks a progressive step in India’s education and healthcare sectors, reinforcing the importance of collaborative efforts in building a future-ready workforce.
